Lesley established the funeral business in 1988 to provide a truly unique style of service for bereaved families. To offer, not only practical help, but sincere friendship at a time of sadness and often great distress. Losing a loved one can be traumatic and difficult and we appreciate the great need for honest, reliable guidance at such a time.
Shane Watson is now the Manager at Lesley Shands and Wendy Percey is his assistant, they were both trained by Lesley personally.
The majority of funeral arrangements are made in the home of a family member but if preferred, our kettle is always on and relatives and friends are guaranteed a warm relaxed reception here in Corfe Mullen.
We have relied greatly on word of mouth recommendations which we feel are most important, and grieving relatives can be assured of our constant personal support, care and love throughout their bereavement.
Great importance is given to the care of the deceased during their stay with us. Individual, tastefully decorated and furnished Chapels of Rest are provided for the days prior to a funeral, and no appointment is required during working hours for family and friends to visit. Outside these times we should appreciate a prior phone call to ensure that the door will be open. No charge will be made for these visits as we consider that, in a great many instances, the viewing of a loved one after death is of paramount importance to the ultimate success of the grieving process.
Given the opportunity, we have found a great many families would prefer to arrange a service with a difference – a goodbye which reflects the true personality and life of the one they have loved. There is an increasing demand for semi or non religious services which Lesley will write individually and conduct with love.
You only have this one opportunity to say your final goodbyes in a way which you feel comfortable. We strive to guarantee that you get the best support and guidance possible to achieve this.
