Out of Hours Operatives

Douch Family Funeral Directors are fourth-generation family-run funeral directors with seven independently run branches throughout Dorset and the Isle of Purbeck.

We are looking for applicants to join us as Out of Hours Operatives at our James Smith branch in Swanage.

Out of Hours Operatives

You will be paired up with a partner working a 6-week rotation system covering Monday to Friday 5 pm to 8 am, all weekend from 5 pm on Friday finishing at 8 am Monday including Bank Holidays.  However, if the need is required this could be more frequent.

Candidates must be physically fit and ideally live within a 5 miles radius of Swanage.

The position requires someone of a smart appearance with excellent communication skills as you will be acting as an ambassador for the company being the first point of contact to families, nursing homes, and hospitals.  At times you will be working on behalf of Her Majesty’s Coroners therefore someone with excellent interpersonal communication skills, and a calm manner with great empathy and understanding is a must.

There may be occasions where you could be asked to assist on funerals at the branch.

Previous experience is not essential as training will be given.   A full clean driving licence is imperative.
