Messages of condolence

  1. To the Watkins,

I just wanted to reach out and offer my condolences. I was so sad to hear about Albert. Such a huge loss. Albert was one of a kind and a great friend to all. I have so many fond memories of school and scouts/explorers with him.

During our time in scouts my Dad (Mike Whitfield) would spend a long time explaining how to make a gadget and Albert would always appear to not be paying attention. To try and catch him out, my Dad would ask Albert to demonstrate how to make said gadget and Albert would make it expertly. This infuriated my Dad but it’s one of our favourite memories. I also remember the time he was washing up at camp and my sister said to Albert, ‘Albert your jacket is on fire!’, to which he replied, ‘not now! I’m washing up!’. Albert then realised he was actually on fire. The fire was put out very swiftly afterwards.

I also remember Albert and his white t-shirts. A brand new, clean one on each day for camp.

I just wanted to get in touch and share these memories with you. Albert was hilarious, clever, a friend to all. He will be so missed.

    All my love,

    Kelly Whitfield
