Anton aged 82 years passed away peacefully on Friday 14th May 2021. He will be sadly missed by all his family and friends.
Our fantastic Grampie, Opie, is deeply missed, there will never be a man quite like him. We wish we could be with you all, especially you Nan, to help celebrate his wonderful life and give our deepest comfort in this time of loss and grief. All our love. ik hou van je
There really isn’t just a few words to say about Tony; could write a book about him and his life. His early years were hard, but he wasn’t.
Tony was tender and loving to his wife and children and the many grandchildren and great grandchildren as they joined the family.
I have so many precious memories of him, especially on Jan and Tony’s visits to us in Canada. At the beach after we had docked our houseboat and he was sure he had discovered silver in the rocks. Our holiday in upstate New York int he boat house cabin rental. Tony and Jim playing chess while Jan and I thought of all the silly things she could write in postcards back to her family and friends.
Jim and I will carry those memories in our hearts as long as we live.
Our love and empathy to you Jan and all your lovely family members.
We have many memories of Tony at Splashdown, including a stint that included being Father Christmas at Lemur Landings. We know that you will miss him and tears will be shed at his passing, but we hope that you will find comfort in the special memories that you have and in the knowledge that he will always be remembered at Splashdown with great fondness. Sending our condolences to all of Tony’s family and thinking especially of Jan.
Most of us have only known Tony for a few short years since he joined our local Games Group with Jan. Little did we realise how lucky we were but sometimes in life you have the opportunity to meet someone who has a great impact on you. Tony was certainly one of those people. Friendly, kind, caring, thoughtful, interesting, compassionate, funny – the list goes on. However, one of our group members has summed him up perfectly – ‘he was like a spark of sunshine – his smile lit up the room and the day just felt better for him being there.’ Tony, you will be so missed by us all – it has been a privilege to have known you. Love and sympathy to Jan and the family at this sad time.
From All at the Board Games Group.
A life well lived by a kind, wonderful man. He shall be missed.
We will miss your smiling face and cheerful outlook. Our eternal Peter Pan.
Lots of love till we meet again
