One of the kindest men I had the pleasure of knowing for 6 years, everyday through my cancer treatment Six weeks, he took me, picked me up, made sure I was safe, took me to hospital for my laser eye surgery, was always there to help, my heart breaks for Bev and Wendy, Bill thank you for looking after me, just like a Dad, love you and will miss you so much, sleep tight no more pain xxxxxx
Thanks for looking after Mum whenever she asked (or didn’t!) and always being there to help Bev and her out. I’m sorry that we didn’t get to know eachother better. Rest in peace, Bill.
We also are truly saddened by the passing of Bill, he will be greatly missed as we have known him for over 15 years – mainly in the world of Bowls. This sporting activity led us to a lasting relationship with Bill and Wendy. Bill always was looking to help others, and we experienced this wonderful side of Bill through his great interest in gardening – he would always let Pat have a most beautiful hanging basket for her garden. Our thoughts are, naturally, with Wendy and Bev.
We first met Bill 8 years ago when we began bowling at Poole Park. In recent years we shared many deep conversations castigating the Tory party when he insisted on driving me to bowls matches on Friday afternoons.
Bill never forgot his Geordie heritage but beneath the sometime sharp exterior he was without doubt a very kind, generous and thoughtful person who l was lucky to know
I will so miss seeing him and listening to his caustic comments about my gardening skills and what l need to do to improve my bowls.
Rest in peace Bill – there are flowers in my garden that will always remind me of our happy times together.
It was a pleasure and honour to count Bill as a true friend and bowls colleague.
My sincere condolences to his wife and family
So sorry to hear the news. Bill will be missed by all of the Timber Trundler members. He was a cheerful hard worker. Love to Wendy and family.
I had the great pleasure of knowing Bill through bowling against him in club matches and bowling with him in county matches and in more recent years in TT matches. We often travelled to matches together and we were never short of conversation and banter on gardening, computing, bowling and trying to put the world right. He will be greatly missed. Deepest sympathy to Wendy and the family.
With love and fond memories of my Uncle Billy.
