Dear Grandma,
You were everything a grandma should be. Kind, patient, loving, and always there for us. Some of my most treasured memories are of the time we spent together doing crafts. I’m not sure you expected quite how enthusiastic I’d be, especially when I made you sit and make friendship bracelets with me over and over again! Looking back, I hope you know how much those little moments meant to me.
You and Grandad also gave us the most wonderful days out which were made even better by your legendary picnics. Those are memories I will carry with me forever.
William has been so lucky to have known all of his great grandparents, and he loves his GG very much. I don’t think he will ever forget the time you wore a Liverpool FC cap just to make him happy. That meant the world to him!
You’ve lived such a full life, and now it’s time for you to rest and be reunited with Grandad. We will miss you, but we are so grateful that we had you in our lives and for all the love you gave us.
With all my love, always.
Hayley
To Eunice,
I am going to miss your sense of humour and the genuine laughs we shared.
Of course, I’ll always remember the times you stayed with us on the Isle of Wight. You were never quite sure if we were excited to see you or even more excited to see those boxes of home-made cakes you always bought with you—your ‘Sludge Cake’ was, and will remain, legendary.
It seemed there was nothing you couldn’t turn your hand to, especially when it came to your intricate crafts. But what impressed me most was your announcement in your late 70’s that you were buying a computer.
I’ll admit, I predicted a disaster! Yet, after a few lessons at your local library, you proved me wrong and became a true ‘Silver Surfer.’
Eunice, you were a kind, lovely woman who will be missed by us all.
You were definitely my most favorite mother-in-law.
Rest in peace.

Thank you for all the wonderful memories
Rest well Grandma, finally reunited with Grandad in his greenhouse in the sky.
You have left all of us with some wonderful memories. My fondest being our summer holidays spent with you and grandad in Dorset, from afternoons of adventures at west moors country park to visits to Mr blobby world at crinkley bottom and never to forget, your famous boozy fruit salads!
Will miss you until we meet again

Dear Grandma
We’re all very sad that you’ve left us but it’s comforting to know that you’re now with Grandad.
You were the greatest grandparents and I’m really thankful for the many wonderful moments that we shared especially those summers in Dorset as Jack has mentioned.
Thank you for always being there when it mattered, from the football tournaments, the countless school plays to even waving me off on the Tall ship voyage that time. It was always lovely to know you and Grandad were there and that you had a genuine interest in everything that we got up to.
I always loved it when you came to visit and joined mum for the school pick ups. Knowing there would be a tupperware box waiting at home full of your butterfly cakes made it all the more special.
Thank you for everything you taught us, you were the kindest person and I’ll miss you dearly.
Rest easy Grandma.

Eunice was a very kind, marvellous neighbour and a very good friend. You greeted Dennis and I when we moved to the Crescent and immediately made us welcome. I will always remember both you and Don with much affection. Rest in peace, love, Pam
You will forever be in my heart and never forgotten. You were loved by all who knew you and I’m so proud that you were my Mum. Now reunited with Dad….give him a hug from me. Love you xXx
Mum was a very special lady and was loved by all who knew her. I will miss our regular meals out and our shopping trips. Rest in peace now that you are reunited with Dad and your family. Love always, Pauline xXx
Dear Grandma,
We’re all heartbroken to see you go, but there’s comfort in knowing you’re reunited with Grandad again.
Some of my favourite memories are the weekends spent at yours. Long walks along the West Moors Valley Trail, then heading back and sitting around the table playing Rummikub with you and Grandad. Simple moments that meant a lot.
I was always amazed by your talent for crafts. The sugar icing flowers you made were incredible. I remember looking through them when I came to visit and wondering how you managed to make them all by hand.
Thank you for the love and time you always gave us. Those memories will stay with me.
Rest peacefully Grandma.

Not many 70 year olds had a living auntie and I was proud the be your nephew. Also you were Great-Great aunt to Joshua and Freya. Having moved down to Hampshire was also good as we were able to be nearer to you than we were in Kent, making regular meeting with you for lunch and your favourite Chardonnay wine. Thank you for just being around and so caring and kind.
Rest in Peace Eunice
Eunice
You were a beautiful soul and we will miss you and our little chats xx
The first time I met Eunice was around 1973 when Pauline introduced me, complete with a crash helmet, as I arrived on a motorbike. I got the impression that Don was a bit wary but Eunice less so. I was invited in for a drink and that was the time I stopped having sugar in my tea, reason being Eunice never had any in the house. Once I got used to it I never went back.
As time went on I was now having numerous evening meals and amazing Sunday lunches at the Capel’s. Eunice was a very accomplished cook and every meal was perfect. ( although there was never any gravy? ) My favourite was the traditional Boxing Day lunch of cold turkey, ham and pickled walnuts. I’ve never met anyone else who has had pickled walnuts!
Fast forward a few years and it was time for our wedding. Not only did Eunice make all the flower arrangements and buttonholes, she also made 3 bridesmaid dresses and Pauline’s dress. As if that was not enough, she managed to replicate Pauline’s wedding bouquet using icing sugar, that was sitting on top of a 3 tier cake.
Then there was all the home made wine ……..
I was so fascinated that wine could be made at home! I remember buying all the bottles, siphons and other equipment and trying to make my own, unfortunately it was that bad it went straight down the sink.
Eunice definitely tried her hand at most things, she even had a driving license for a number of years. Finally in her later years she acquired an email address, bought a lap top and spent hours amusing herself on the World Wide Web.
Pauline and I were very fortunate to take Eunice and my mother on a Cornish holiday last year. We spent a week in Fowey staying in a nice hotel overlooking the harbour. The bedrooms on the 2nd and 3rd floors were accessed by a very old open cage lift that could only take 2 people at a time. Pauline and I would walk up the stairs and usually arrive before them as they struggled to shut the doors and work the controls. All we good hear was giggles and laughter as they slowly made their way up. Looking back on it now, it was the perfect short holiday for all of us.
I have never seen Eunice angry or even annoyed, just happy, smiling and content.
Without doubt, the perfect Mother-in-Law
Always in our hearts, sleep well 💕
