  18. Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there, I do not sleep
I am a thousands words that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the mornings hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight,
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
    I am not there, I didn’t die

Reading through the messages already posted, it is obvious that Gareth was greatly loved and admired by many people. Although my service time with Gareth was limited, we furthered our acquaintance at reunions and of course through the wonders of social media messaging! 58. My deepest condolences to Heather and the whole extended family on the sad news of Taff’s passing. We served together as many others on here did. As Soldiers we all develop a certain sense of humour which never leaves us. As a proud Welshman Taff had a strong accent when he arrived at Poole and found one word difficult to pronounce. I was describing some of the observation equipment we used and in particular ‘Donkey Eared’ binoculars. Some time later I asked him to list some equipment and he said ‘Donkey Yeared’ Binoculars. I pointed to his ears and said ‘What are those called?’ to which he responded ‘Years’. After much berating by me for some time he was able to speak perfect English. He often told that story in the Blue Boar with a cheeky grin on his face. Goodbye old mate.
