Gordon will be greatly missed by all of his many admirers at Blandford Forum Town Council. I had the privilege of meeting Gordon three times: for two significant birthdays, and of course VE Day – where he starred as the VIP guest! He was always humble, courteous and humorous, and it was a great pleasure to meet and talk to him. He was a real gentleman. Rest in Peace, Gordon.
Cllr. Hugo Mieville
Mayor of Blandford Forum
I’ve been so privileged Dad to have had you in my life for so long. There’s a huge hole now that can never be filled, but the wonderful memories will live with me in my heart forever, until we meet again Pops xxx
Such a wonderful man – you’ve been such a special part of our family and you’ll be dearly missed. Thank you for leaving us with so many wonderful memories of happy times shared together ❤️ xx
I didn’t know you well growing up, but I wish I had. You lived a brilliant and long life and everybody loved you. You will be remembered always for being unfailingly optimistic, jolly, and kind. Rest in peace Grandad x
We were introduced to you as George in the mid ‘70s and will always be remembered by us as such. Although for the last 20ish years we have known you as Gordon, Grenville and especially Pops.
It has been a great pleasure to have known and loved you for so many of your wonderful years.
You were truly a lovely gentleman and we hope you will be with your lovely Phyllis dancing in heaven. RIP
Kev & Pat 🥲
It was a pleasure to know you. A really true English Gentleman. A story to tell.
From Rupert. & Jane
Dearest Gordon, it was such a pleasure to have you join our family many years ago. You and lovely Phyllis were very special to us. You shared many wonderful stories of your life and it was always interesting chatting with you. You will be greatly missed but always remembered with love.
God Bless you . Your duty nobly done. Val and Alan
Dearest Gordon.
You are the epitome of a human being that embraced life and lived it to the fullest.
You won my deepest respect and admiration from the first day I was introduced to you,
and I instinctively knew that I was in the presence of someone very special – A real gentleman.
You are man who had mastered along your journey the balance between an inner strength and sweet softness. Much of which you have passed on to your lovely Son Phil.
You consistently bought grace, charm and joy to every occasion, which always uplifted the spirits of everyone who was around you “young and old”
I believe that you are only out of sight because you have turned a corner on your journey and you are no longer visible to us that remain.
But there is no end – There is no end – There is no end I`m sure !!
And when my time comes to turn the same corner, I`ll be knocking on your door.
And the biscuits will be on me !!
Safe travels and fly high Gordon – You are without doubt “Top of the Pops” .x.x.
We are blessed to have had the absolute pleasure and joy of knowing Pops, and for our children to have known their incredible Great Grandfather. Pops was the embodiment of an English gentlemen, with kind smiling eyes and a gentle soul. Malachi shared his love of trains and Iris his love of dancing. Not to mention his love of “just one more biscuit”.
Rest easy now Pops, love and light xxx
