Dale and I were very sorry to hear the news about Hugh and we will be thinking about you on the 4th March
Alan and I along with all at PSYC will sorely miss the true gentleman, expert sailor and good friend that Hugh was to everyone he met.
You are in our thoughts
Hugh was a true gentleman, the many years of service that he gave to Port Solent Yacht Club was exemplary. When PSYC was a small tight knit group of established members, Hugh was the one that always made that special effort to welcome new people and make them feel comfortable regardless of the type of boating passion they followed. We have many fond moments of spending time with Hugh, he had a super sense of humour and was always smiling. He will be sorely missed but fondly remembered. Our condolences to Marian and the family. Sadly, we will be out of the country on 4th March but will be raising a glass of something to toast Hugh. RIP.
Although we only knew Hugh for a year or so, once he returned to The Verwood Hub Health Walks after the Pandemic; we both loved the lengthy chats we had with him. His wicked sense of humour, great knowledge and interests he shared with others made him someone whom we will miss very dearly. Gone but never forgotten. The church service was beautifully orchestrated and Marian did him proud.
It was a privilege to have Hugh as our friend – a true gentleman and always such good company.
Hugh and Marian welcomed us into the PSYC many years ago and since we left after selling our boat and moving on always kept them on our Christmas card list as they were two of our favourite people.
Sorry we can not be with you on the 5th of march but will still be thinking of you all.
We feel privileged to have been friends with Hugh and will miss him greatly at PSYC: a gentleman and exemplary sailor.
