Although the warmth from the hearth was no doubt a draw,
And I did like to have all that space on the floor;
The main reason I chose to locate myself there
Was that I loved to be placed at the foot of your chair
The Uncle I cherished, the very best you could find,
With the gentlest of natures, warm-hearted and kind,
I so wish I could return to that place at your feet
And be with you once more in my favourite seat
Though your chair now sits empty and the fire’s gone cold,
I’m so grateful to look back on those times of old
Now wherever I am, I’ll look up, and you’re near me,
(From floor to chair, ground to sky)
The loveliest of men, my dear Uncle Jimmy.
Sending much love at this sad time to Aunty Luanne, Becki and Tim
