Nanny was the best Nanny we could have wished for.
She was generous, kind and could always make us laugh.
Even when she was busy running a pub, she would always be there to talk about how we were and what we had been doing.
We will really miss having you around, having fun days out and sleepovers at your house (and your amazing coleslaw).
We will always try to celebrate the happy memories rather than mourning your loss.
We love you !!
My memory of Julia goes back to when I was 18. When she was landlady of the quay inn.
She was a lovely lady and will be very much missed.
Lots of love
I ‘ve known Julia or Julie as she was to us since she was 18 and came to join our family. She was always a friend as well as a sister in law, and although we may have all gone our separate ways she was and still is a loved member of the family. She may be gone but she leaves behind a wonderful legacy in her children and grandkids. Sleep tight lovely lady, it’s been a pleasure to have known youxx
Mum
It’s hard to believe you are gone. You led an amazing life, full of fight & resilience in all that you did, right til the end.
You were so well loved, respected & known by all for your selflessness, fun nature, kindness, care for others & you always managed to find the time for everyone that needed you or just wanted to spend time with you.
Yours is the most beautiful legacy a person can leave. You did absolutely everything for us three kids & your grandchildren and you positively affected so many friends and customers lives over the years.
[ & you ran the best pubs in Dorset! ]
It’s hard to think that it’s already time to say goodbye mum. I will take solace in the knowledge that you are now free of pain & reunited with those that left your own life way too early.
I LOVE YOU MUM ❤️
AND FINALLY, A HUGE THANK YOU XXX
Julia ( or Julie as I knew her) became part of my family when I was very young. She was the most wonderful sister in law a much younger me could have had. She encouraged my love of reading with books as gifts, took me out on trips and invited me to stay with her in East Stoke. As I grew older she trusted me to look after Pete ,Andee and Beeny.
When I got married Julie took on the task of making my bridesmaids’ dresses. Not easy when I and one of them lived 200 miles away, lots of phone calls and stress but thanks to Julie’s skill the dresses fitted perfectly and looked so professional.
When she took on the Quay I played in the pub quiz team on a Sunday evening. She was a brilliant landlady and made sure everyone enjoyed their evening win or lose.
I guess that summed Julie up for me , welcoming, generous and kind . Rest in peace x
The most kindness boss anyone could of have
Thank you for letting me work in the king’s arms
I enjoyed making memories and the laughter
Truly lovely lady fly high Julia rip
Dearly missed
I’m so sorry for your extremely sad loss. Julia was such lovely lady who was loved by all. She was always smiling and happy to chat with everyone. I enjoyed working for her in The Kings Arms and will never forget her.
She will always be with you in your hearts and your memories x x
Dearest Julia we were friends for nearly fifty years, we laughed together, cried together but most of all we had fun together,
I will miss you so much! You were a lovely person with a big heart taken from us far to soon.
You are in my heart and soul, I will never forget you.
My heartfelt condolences go.out to your family .
With love Toni Dear 😘😘
For years I ran a B&B in West Street Wareham and when my boys were little I became friends with Julie through another friend Sylvia. My boys were about 6 and 10 (they are 51 and 47 now). I had trouble making curtains for my kitchen window (couldn’t afford ready made in those days) and Julie came to my rescue and made the curtains for me. Even made little rosettes to go on the tie backs. We lost touch and one day I walked into a pub in the depths of Dorset (Kings Stag) and there was Julie, all smiles as usual, behind the bar. A really lovely lady with a kind heart and soul, they are few and far in this day and age. One of the old school where you tried and helped others and generally cared for people. RIP Julie
I knew Julia through Beeny ( my oldest friend 🥰.) She always looked after me so well and I have fond memories of trips to Longlete zoo and Monkey World. I was a clingy child so the fact I went with Beeny and Julia to France showed how kind and understanding she was of a fussy child that wouldn’t eat 🤣. She was hard working and determined and an amazing Landlady. So sorry that I can’t be there in person on Wednesday but I will be thinking of you all. xxxx
Auntie Julia,
So many great memories from when we were growing up from hanging out in the pub with Guinness and Murphy to you coming to visit and bringing us more football stickers than we knew what to do with!
Rest in peace, you will be missed xxx
Lovely Julia, you were part of mine and my children’s lives for only a short time, but it was a happy time. You had a big big heart. Love Allison, Daniel and Abbie x x x
Than you for your friendship and for the laughs.
We had fun. We also had strife, but mostly it was fun. You always had a smile on your face and saw the funny side of life. We had good times and we had great times. The French holidays and the house renovations – Special.
You will be missed by us, but more especially by Pete, Andee and Beeny.
Oh, by the way, did you know ” She ran a pub” ?
All our love
So sorry to hear of Julia’s passing. I met Julia when I was at school, in the biology department. A levels were made better by the great trips we went on to the Forest of Dean. After leaving school our favourite tech assistant became our favourite landlady and the Quay was the place to be! Many fabulous evenings spent in her company and her regulars. We were thrilled when she took over the King’s Arms and touched when we held dad’s wake there. A lovely lady who always had time for a chat, you’ll be greatly missed.
