I was taught ballet by June in the 1970s at St Mary’s Church. She helped me through my ballet exams & gave me great encouragement & helped me find confidence in myself. I have never forgotten her elegance & presence when she walked into a room or in the street – unmissable! She will be greatly missed but has left behind a wonderful legacy. Thank you, June. Love & payers to all her family & friends.
In memory of June who has been such an inspiration to so many people, young and old and had a huge impact and influence on our daughter, Elizabeth’s life.
June was never any different over the 25 years I knew her….she was unfailingly determined, positive and full of ideas for the dance school. Yes, a number of young people did go on to have a career in dance, helped enormously by her encouragement, support and extremely high standards, but so very many more just thoroughly enjoyed themselves, and grew in confidence in other areas of their lives
Thank you for all of it, June!
June first taught me dance in 1972. Tap classes were my favourite. I’m now 58 and still dance and love every minute. I owe so much of this to June. She was a truly amazing teacher. She will be greatly missed. My love to all the family.

June, you made a huge impression on me and my life, we remained friends and corresponded right to the end. I shall miss you. Liz Warr and I were your first two pupils ever and are both very proud of that. Bless you. Rosie and Liz xxx
Dear June, you were a big influence on so many people through your teaching. I cherish my memories of ballet lessons, performances and even the exams, for the dedication and fun of it all. It was wonderful to see you during visits home from Australia. Once I even came to your adults class. Last year you were too unwell and I couldn’t visit you. So, while I’ll miss you, I’m pleased that you’re free from suffering now. I celebrate the wonderful life you’ve had and I’m grateful to have been one of June’s Girls.
My heart-felt condolences and love to your family.
So many lives were touched by this wonderful woman – especially mine, as she put me on the path towards a career in dance.
Her exemplary strength, grit and determination is remembered by all and she made a difference to the community of Swanage in such a huge way.
She will be terribly missed, but her memories live on.
Thank you for everything June.

An amazing lady who achieved so much for so many.
An incredible goodbye on the 16th…gone but not forgotten. Xx
I’m heartbroken that I’ve only just discovered that you’ve left us June. You were inspirational and I’ll never forget my dancing days or your wonderful Swanage Operatic Society performances. You know o would have come to say goodbye if I’d known but goodbye now and I know you will carry on dancing in the sunbeams and rainbows ❤️
She’ll be singing and dancing in the sky xxx
I have just seen the notice about the death of June. I was with June from the start of the very successful dancing school. She was able to give me so much confidence in the many exams I took . We moved away but kept in contact through Christmas cards. I do remember the wonderful shows she put on and the lovely costumes I wore to make those performances so special.
I am sorry I have only just seen this. She was a vet special person and an exceptional teacher. Together with Rosemary Belbin and Liz Warr we were the founding members of such a legacy of June’s wonderful dancing school
