We knew Muriel in her latter years as a friendly neighbour who always had opinions which were honest & sincere. We miss her companionship & fellowship & thank God for her life which was not always easy but exhilarating & complete in so many ways.
We’ll remember Muriel with fondness. She’d obviously led an interesting and varied life and had a great fund of stories to tell. She’d enjoyed creative work with her pen and paints and needles. She was very practical and ingenious at solving problems that arose in the home. She told me of her earlier days of travelling around the country on her motor scooter and loved to drive. She’d had a few adventures in her old car and was very sad when she had to give up her licence. She still enjoyed being in her garden and feeding her birds.
Life had become quite a struggle for Muriel in these last few years but she was able to look back on many happy memories of people and places she’d known in her long life. She loved to share these memories and laughed a lot as she recounted some of the stories. She would laugh and say “we’ve had a good giggle haven’t we.” We’ll miss you Muriel. May you rest in peace.
It has been a privilege to have known Muriel for many years, both as a friend and colleague at Swanage Methodist Church. We have missed her cheerful and welcoming companionship in the congregation during her last illness, but we give thanks for the happy memories we have of her.
May she rest in peace.
Muriel and I met during the pandemic. I enjoyed her company very much & she joined my family for 2 lovely Christmas days. She was sharp witted and funny, I will miss the stories of my life.
Au revoir my friend.
She was my God mother and she used to visit my Mother and Father in Exmouth with her husband and then later on her own. As others have said she was very sharp witted and funny and I was pleased that she led an independent life to almost the very end. She always took a very keen interest in my work and my family and she will be greatly missed.
Lovely farewell for a very special lady
