In the middle of a global pandemic, community support groups and bereavement counselling have never been so important. At Douch Family Funeral Directors, we are dedicated to helping people through some of their most difficult times. We have maintained our commitment to continuing bereavement support through the pandemic. By adapting the way we run our community events, we have been able to continue providing support to those who need it most. Now the country has started to open back up we are pleased to finally announce that nearly all our community groups are back up and running across Dorset.

Why are support groups important?

Support groups and community events are designed to help anyone in the community who are looking for a place to connect with others. They give people an opportunity to share how they are feeling and talk to someone who has been through a similar experience. At Douch Family Funeral Directors we are committed to supporting the local community across Dorset.

Knit & Natter groups

Our Knit & Natter knitting groups ran weekly throughout lockdown. The sessions were held via Zoom, continuing to provide support for those having to safeguard or remain in isolation. We are pleased that we can finally reunite these groups who have not seen each other face to face for the past year! Our Knit & Natter knitting group is a great way to meet and chat to like-minded people who all enjoy knitting, and after a long year of lockdown there is plenty to catch up on.

Even though the pandemic is over, there are still people living alone or in isolation. These knitting groups provide people with important social contact, in a time where it’s increasingly common to see people become detached from society. Our local knitting groups meet across Dorset in Corfe Mullen, Wimborne, Broadstone, Parkstone, Colehill, Ferndown and West Moors.

Bereavement support

Bereavement support groups are important in helping someone with the grieving process. After the death of a loved one, it is easy to feel isolated and alone. Grief can affect everyone differently and often people are left without a proper outlet for their feelings. Bringing people together to share their stories with others who are experiencing their own loss can be a good way to begin processing their emotions.

Cindy Weller helps to run our groups and is a qualified, accredited counsellor offering professional and friendly support.  If you are finding the loss of a loved one difficult, our bereavement support groups are there to provide a helping hand when you need it most.

Our bereavement support groups help those suffering with a loss, connect with new people and lets them know that they are not alone. Grief can be even more difficult during a pandemic as we are more isolated from one another, so these groups have become even more important than they were before. As well as bereavement support, we also offer many other community events designed to bring people together. Visit out community events page to see what is on in your local area.

Now that things are starting to get back to normal, we have a wide range of face-to-face support available. We value our role in the community and are committed to providing support for you and your loved ones.
