  1. A kind and gentle man who made me feel like part of his family from the first time we met. He was always keen to share his knowledge with me especially when we were rummaging through old rubbish as we quite often did. I new that if anything I was doing involved wood I could ask him to have a look as he liked a project and was never happier than when he was in his shed making, repairing or just pottering.
Although I only new him for less than half of my life it was an honour for me to make his acquaintance and I will miss spending time with him doing some of the things that he and I both enjoyed.

  2. No longer will I be able to say “I’ll ring Dad, he’ll know what to do” when I have a problem. You’ve always been there for me Dad in your quiet, unassuming way and for that I thank you.

    Love you always xxxx

    Diane
  3. Quite simply one of the most fascinating and caring people anyone could ever know. Throughout my life, he was always there when I needed him, and I will never stop missing him. It was truly an honour to call him grandad. xxx

  4. A lovely, caring man who I will miss each time I visit.

  5. I’ll never come back from a visit and have people constantly telling me I’ve picked my “Dorset fleck” after spending time talking to him.
The wisdom he shared and the things he taught me about carpentry will alway stay with me, along with the memories of places we visited.
He once took me to the Dorset steam fair first thing in the morning when the engine were still cold and being cleaned.
That entire day inspired a piece of work I did for my English GCSE that got an “A”
I could have never asked for a better grandfather. Love you always

  6. I first met Uncle Bill when he came home from Korea. Soon after he made me a fishing rod out of an old cane and took me over the river at East Stoke. That was the beginning of a pastime I still enjoy.
I will always remember him with great affection.
