Will always remember you as the athlete you were. Many great times over the years, at many reunions.
Cheers Geoff

So many fond memories of our days together.

Chester College (68 – 71)
Great memories of Ian at college and the times we were together at sporting and family reunions. From Shep and Elizabeth.
A footballer of above ability who was a member of the Hamworthy Recreation Club who won the
Umbro National over 35 team in 2000 and will be missed by his team mates
A sparkling intellect and a man of honour, but above all a truly lovely human. The Year 11s found out what a hard man he was on the football pitch when we played staff vs students 🙂
My abiding memory of you will be your boundless energy & fitness on the football pitch.
You never seemed tired like the rest of us at the end of the match!
Great memories of a greatly enjoyable time in our lives.

We remember Ian as as a charismatic and charming nephew and cousin who was liked and loved by all his family and friends.
With love and fond memories.
Geoff, Sally, Ron and Stuart
So many great memories of time spent with you, Uncle Ian. Watching you play football for Sutton Town in the FA Cup first round against Billy Bremner’s Doncaster Rovers still stands out. All the great coaching you gave when I was playing football for my school team, your advice and support when studying for my English Literature A-Level. In later years, sharing a few beers and the odd glass of fine red wine were also special and memorable times. Family holidays on the beaches at Bournemouth and Poole, many social occasions, family birthdays, parties and anniversaries will also live long in our memories.
You were one of the very best.
Even though there were many miles between us, we have many fond memories of years gone by. You will always be in our thoughts and forever missed. RIP Uncle Ian.
Love The Hickson-Brown Family
A great mentor, a kind and honourable man. I learnt so much from you, both professionally and personally and have a lot to thank you for – although you really didn’t know a lot about what made a decent football team! 😉
An outstanding teacher, respected by all staff and students.
I was saddened to read that Mr Hickson had passed after looking up his name. I left school in 2002 and remember him fondly. I’d always thought of him as my favourite teacher.
He was a great inspiration to me and I think of him often. He was a brilliant teacher that took the time sometimes in the middle of a English lesson to explain things like the basic concepts of politics or the economy etc so we could truly understand the literature we were set.
I’ll forever be thankful that he gave me extra books to read rather than hold me back.
Apologies for the late message and condolences to his family and friends.
