Blue Pool was one of our very first customers over 30 years ago with Miss Barnard placing her trust in ourselves and in our products, such a wonderful character, she made a great impression on us all being firm, gentle and kind and will be greatly missed by all the whole team at Purbeck Ice Cream.

Miss Barnard was a very special lady, and made the most amazing scones. One of my very first memories as a child was of going to Blue Pool with my parents and my Great Grandmother and meeting Miss Barnard. I loved watching her making the scones, and was always impressed at the amount she made every day. They always tasted delicious, even if you did have to have a disagreement over which way the cream and jam went on! (Personally, I do cream, jam, cream, jam then everyone is happy). It was always a treat to have a look around the shop, and recently seeing the Wareham Bears. Always a relief to sit by the open fire, even on a chilly summer day! Ever since that first visit, we have visited Blue Pool as often as we can each season, with this year being the first year in my lifetime that we haven’t been able to go (hopefully there is still time). Last year it was my privilege to take my own 4 month old daughter with me for Mothering Sunday, with her Grand Parents, and to say hello to Miss Barnard. I didn’t know her apart from to say hello, but she will be sadly missed. Thank you to her for keeping Blue Pool a wonderful unspoilt place to visit, where we can make such special family memories. Condolences to all her family and friends.
