50 up in Swanage

50 Plus Swanage

Following the enormous success of three previous events, Dorset’s Douch Family Funeral Directors are holding another 50-plus information day.

It is being held The Swanage School on Wednesday 30th October and will be supported by the group’s local branch, James Smith.

The event is free to enter, with free refreshment, and there will be a wide range of stalls and exhibitors.

Amongst a variety of practical benefits will be scam awareness sessions that help people identify fraud and suspicious communications.

Exhibitors will include local befriending groups, financial planning experts, sport and leisure groups, crime prevention professionals and those involved in social care.

Emma Regan, who is organising it, said: “These events are enormously popular so we decided to hold one in the Isle of Purbeck where we have branches in Swanage, Wareham and Upton.

“Our James Smith branch is getting behind this event, making the most of its links within the community.

“We will be having cookery demonstrations thanks to The Friendly Food Club’s Eat a Rainbow and Meet, Cook and Eat project.

“And because our charity this year is Dementia Friends, there is an emphasis on dementia and helping raise awareness, and support will be part of proceedings.

“To this end there will be demonstrations throughout the day of the ‘Magic Table’, something designed for those living with dementia.

“Feedback from our other 50-plus information days has been extremely positive and those who attend really find they benefit.”

The day begins at 10am and runs until 2pm.
