Independent Funeral Directors
Serving Dorset for over 110 years

If you are arranging a cremation funeral in Dorset, you can choose which crematorium to use. The closest crematorium is not always the most suitable and your choice may depend on location, service times, facilities, availability and the type of funeral you would like.

Douch Family Funeral Directors regularly arranges funeral services at crematoriums across Dorset and the surrounding areas. Below you can find addresses and useful information about some of the crematoriums available to the families we support.

You do not need to contact the crematorium yourself. If we are arranging the funeral, we will make the booking and deal with the crematorium on your behalf.

Bournemouth Crematorium

Strouden Avenue, Bournemouth, Dorset, BH8 9HX

View Bournemouth Crematorium on a map

Bournemouth Crematorium is operated by BCP Council and is one of the crematoriums we regularly use for families in Bournemouth, Poole, Christchurch and the surrounding areas.

Funeral services can be personalised with music, readings, photographs and visual tributes. We will arrange the crematorium booking, service requirements and any music or tribute requests as part of the funeral arrangements.

If you would prefer the main funeral service to take place in a church, one of our ceremony rooms or another suitable venue, the cremation can take place afterwards.

Poole Crematorium and the Halo Ceremony Hall

Gravel Hill, Poole, Dorset, BH17 9BQ

View Poole Crematorium on a map

At present, cremations do not take place at Poole Crematorium. The cremators ceased operating in 2020, but funeral services can still be held in the Halo Ceremony Hall.

Families can hold the funeral service at Poole before the person who has died is taken elsewhere for cremation. Douch Family Funeral Directors can arrange the service at the Halo Ceremony Hall and coordinate the cremation arrangements afterwards.

This can be a useful option for families who would like a funeral service in Poole without travelling to another crematorium for the ceremony itself.

New Forest Crematorium

Stem Lane, New Milton, Hampshire, BH25 5FH

New Forest Crematorium is located near New Milton and is particularly convenient for families in Christchurch, Bournemouth and parts of east Dorset.

The chapel seats 117 people, with additional standing space available. It offers music, visual tributes and live webcasting and has 111 parking spaces, including accessible parking.

Douch Family Funeral Directors can arrange attended or unattended cremation services at New Forest Crematorium and will make the booking on your behalf.

If Weymouth is the preferred crematorium, we can arrange the booking and coordinate the funeral service, music and other requirements on your behalf.

Families do not necessarily need to hold the main funeral service at the crematorium. A service can take place elsewhere before travelling to Weymouth or before an unattended cremation.

Yeovil Crematorium can be a convenient option for families in north west Dorset and neighbouring parts of Somerset.

We can arrange funeral and cremation services at Yeovil Crematorium and deal with the booking and service requirements on your behalf.

As with the other crematoriums listed here, the most suitable venue will depend on the family’s location, availability and the type of funeral being arranged.

Frequently Asked Questions About Crematoriums

Can I choose which crematorium to use?

Yes. You do not normally have to use the crematorium closest to where the person lived or died. Families can choose another crematorium because of its location, facilities, availability, family connections or personal preference.

We can explain the practical differences between the crematoriums available and help you choose the most suitable option.

Do I need to contact the crematorium myself?

No. If Douch Family Funeral Directors is arranging the funeral, we will contact the crematorium, make the booking and coordinate the necessary arrangements on your behalf.

Does the funeral service have to take place at the crematorium?

No. The funeral service can take place in a church, one of our private ceremony rooms or another suitable venue before the cremation.

Family and friends can then either travel to the crematorium for the committal or, if an unattended cremation has been arranged, go directly to the wake while we take the coffin to the crematorium.

Can you arrange a funeral service at Poole Crematorium?

Yes. Funeral services can currently take place in the Halo Ceremony Hall at Poole Crematorium, although cremations are not presently carried out on site. After the service, the person who has died is taken elsewhere for cremation.

Can Douch Family Funeral Directors arrange a funeral at Harbour View Crematorium?

Harbour View Crematorium is owned and operated by Tapper Funeral Service and is not available for use by other funeral directors.

If you are arranging a funeral with Douch Family Funeral Directors, we can explain the alternative crematoriums available, including Bournemouth, Poole’s Halo Ceremony Hall, New Forest and other crematoriums across Dorset and the surrounding area.

Which crematorium is closest to me?

This will depend on where you live, but the nearest crematorium is not necessarily the one you need to use. Our branches arrange funerals at crematoriums throughout Dorset and the surrounding counties and can help you compare the available options.
